Bill has been involved in commercial / industrial real estate since 1972. In addition to being a founding partner of Grubb & Ellis|Paramount Commerce, a real estate brokerage company, he is President and owner of Sherwood Financial Services and an owner of Hartland Investments, both real estate development and investment companies. Bill was previously a principal officer and owner of Markland Development and A.J.S. Realty. Bill specializes in Downtown Grand Rapids office space.
Bill and his affiliated companies have acted as developer, broker, and general or managing partner for thousands of real estate projects, across several dozen states, totaling over 2 billion dollars worth of commercial and industrial transactions.
Bill is currently active on the Board of Directors of United Bank and is the past President of the Michigan Commercial Association of Realtors® (MiCAR) for 2004 and 2005, which is Michigan’s statewide commercial association of Realtors®, and is a member of the MICAR Public Policy Committee. Bill is the past president of the Commercial District of the Michigan Association of Realtors®. He has been elected to serve on the Board of Directors, and is the current President Elect, for the Grand Rapids Commercial Association of Realtors® (CAR), and previously served on the Board of Directors for the Grand Rapids Association of Realtors® (GRAR), also serving on and chairing numerous committees throughout the years. Bill was honored by CAR in January 2005 and named Realtor of the Year. Bill is serving his second term as a member of the Executive Committee of the Grubb & Ellis Affiliates. He is a past member of the Downtown Alliance, Grand Rapids Parking Commission, the Metropolitan Hospital Foundation, and is currently involved in many other organizations including the CEO Council of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), the Grand Rapids Economic Club, as well as many civic and charitable organizations. Socially, Bill is a member of Cascade Hills Country Club, the Peninsular Club and is the past treasurer and deacon of Gun Lake Community Church.
Paramount Commerce’s focus on education and developing Advisors through a mentoring program that works through teaming and Agent specialization is one of Bill’s legacies for Paramount Commerce. His leadership and vision led to the honor of Bill being named a finalist for West Michigan Entrepreneur of the Year in 2003. |
